As we are reminded of Jesus’ baptism (Matthew 3:13-17), we may well consider our own. If you were baptized, do you remember? Many were baptized as infants, so memories of the sacrament would be through photos. Even if you don’t remember, what does your baptism mean to you? Is that when you became a child of God or were you always a twinkle in God’s eye? Is it when you became part of the Christian family, or did that occur when you were confirmed? Is it your key to heaven? Is it when you accepted, or someone accepted for you, the responsibility associated with baptism, that of sharing God’s love in the world? Or, do you feel doing this really is your responsibility, or really is expected because of your baptism?

You may find it enlightening to reflect on your beliefs about baptism.
