The story in Genesis 18:20-32 tells us of Abraham’s pestering of God about the destruction of Sodom. Abraham asks if God might save the city if there are 50-45-40 … even 10 good people, and God says that if there are just 10, the city will be saved. There aren’t, and the city is destroyed.

The goodness – the light – of even 10 people would have saved that city. What might our individual lights do? We know that when walking into a dark place, the spark of a match will dispel at least some of the darkness. When we are faced with dark times, it is so very easy to slip into that darkness. Instead, we need to be the light and find others who are trying to be the light. Together we can be that metaphorical 10 that saves!
