In today’s readings, we see Solomon’s humility. He could ask for anything, but rather than thinking only of himself, his concern was for his people. Then, in the psalm, we hear the psalmist’s joy in subjecting himself to God and God’s law. But then, as we read in Matthew, apparently not everyone feels this way, since at the end of time the wicked and righteous will be separated. This may be how those who are humble enough to conform and are called will be justified and glorified, as we’re told in the reading from Romans.
