Acts 5:27-32, 40b-41 tells us that when the Sanhedrin criticized the apostles for telling people about Jesus after being told not to do this, their response was that they didn’t answer to the Sanhedrin, but to God. We, too, may be faced with authority figures who tell us things that don’t feel right – or that feel absolutely wrong. Sometimes we must gather the strength and courage to respond as the apostles did. This can be difficult, but perhaps establishing a close connection to the Divine will give us the strength and courage to do the right thing when we must stand up against authority.
