Today, the United States celebrates Memorial Day, a day set aside to honor those who died while serving our nation. It’s a time to reflect, remember, and express our gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
While honoring the sacrifice of those who gave their lives in defense of our safety and our freedom, the Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch looks forward to the day when the peace of Christ will bring an end to aggression, war, and the suffering that results from war. In the spirit of Christ’s teachings, we pray for a world where peace prevails and the dignity of every human life is upheld. We join with all people of goodwill in seeking a future where conflicts are resolved through dialogue and understanding, and where the scars of war are healed by the love and compassion that Christ exemplifies.
As we observe Memorial Day, let us not only honor the fallen but also commit ourselves to the work of peace, striving to create a world where such sacrifices are no longer necessary.
May Christ’s peace prevail!
