Words from Sunday’s gospel reading (Luke 17:5-10): “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed…..” Have you seen a mustard seed? Long ago young girls wore small mustard seed charms – the seeds are tiny! But, mustard plants are not. They are enormous, growing to 20 feet or more, with a diameter of the same measurement. And they are fast growing, so much so, if not wanted, they might be considered a weed! But that’s the point. A tiny seed of faith can blossom and grow into something huge. We don’t have to wait for a great inspiration or great project to share our faith – it takes only a tiny seed -a word, a smile, an action, that can grow into a great faith – our own or that of someone else. Your tiny seed of God’s love may make the difference in someone’s life.
